Message from the Headteacher

At Qurtubah Institute, we aim to inspire our students to read the Qur’an correctly with understanding and instill in them the love for our Deen, by creating opportunities to learn Islam in a fun and enjoyable way. We take pride in our well planned curriculum and syllabus, as well as our dedicated teachers, who work hard to nurture and educate our students through different teaching methods and facilities.

We want to instill in our students the fundamental values that are needed for being successful as Muslim individuals and as a society at large. We hope to teach our students to cope with the challenges that they may face as Muslims in the Western World. Thus, our long term goal is to create a new generation of young Muslims, who are confident and proud of their Deen. We hope to welcome you on this journey with us.

Who are we?

Qurtubah Institute was set up in 2012 by a group of trustees, who are all qualified teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies. We all have numerous academic and professional experiences of teaching Islamic knowledge, Arabic language and the Quranic Arabic in various places, including secondary schools and different evening and weekend madrasahs.

We started the institute with the aim of providing the young boys and girls in our community with the necessary knowledge of the Quran, Hadith, and essential skills in life to create a vibrant and contemporary Islamic community. Our hard work continues as our institute grows from strength to strength.

Our Mission

Qurtubah Institute’s mission is to create a new generation of young Muslims, who are confident and proud of their Deen. We aspire to provide the young boys and girls in our community with the necessary knowledge of the Quran, Hadith, and essential skills in life to create a vibrant and contemporary Islamic community.

Our Vision

Through our well thought-out curriculum and syllabus, we want our young learners to be able to read the noble Qur’an correctly with tajweed and tarteel, as well as grasp a basic understanding of the words of Allah. We want our learners to deduce the basic masail of our Deen by reading selected Ahadith and contemporary books of Fiqh and Aqeedah. In addition, we want our learners (both boys and girls) to memorise parts of the noble Quran.

We also want to educate our older generation to read the Qur’an correctly and understand the words of Allah through adult courses. Through a combined effort with adults and children, we want to fulfil our mission of reviving knowledge, inspiring spirituality and building community.

Our Teachers

Teachers at Qurtubah Institute are passionate about teaching and inspiring our learners to achieve their best. They are all graduates from various universities within the UK and/or abroad. Many are PGCE qualified whilst others have obtained accreditation from completing shorter teacher training courses. They are all highly experienced, with many teachers being fluent speakers of English and Arabic. Along with knowledge of Islamic Studies, they also have excellent Tajweed and recitation.

Our teachers are regularly updated on Safeguarding and Teaching, through annual Child Protection Training sessions and other professional training, such as First Aid Training. They are DBS checked and use both traditional and contemporary methods of teaching for maximum benefit.
